| The largest in Ukraine festival of performance - the Days of Performance Art in Lviv - will be held in our city from 1 to 4 September.
One of the integral parts of the Days is the School of Performance (still the sole one in Ukraine).
As usually, the School of Performance participation is free of charge
The classes will be conducted by Janusz Baldyga , Waldemar Tatarchuk and Tamar Raban.
The School of Performance venue - the Lviv Palace of Arts (17, Copernicus St.)
The classes will be held daily from 10.00 am. to 2.00 pm.
Then the masters of performance art from Ukraine, Russia, Poland and Israel, namely Ya'acov Chefetz, Beni Kori, Kineret Max, Joanna Ogrodnik, Sylvester Pyasetsky, Michal Dyakovski, Alexander Shaburov, Vyacheslav Mizin, Vlodko Kaufman, Miroslaw Wajda, Volodymyr Topiy and Vasyl' Bazhay will present their performances.
As accustomed, after the School "graduation" its participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate their own performances.
In 2009 the School was attended by about 30 "students" from Lviv, Uzhgorod, Odessa, Kharkiv and Kyiv.
In 2010 - by 40 participants from Lviv, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Khmelnytsky, Kyiv and Vinnytsya.
Vlodko Kaufman (the Dzyga Gallery curator): "In our country there's no some concrete attitude to the performance art within the artists occupied with contemporary art. In most cases, the performance is a part of the contemporary drama or plastic arts, contemporary dance or socio-political actions and projects. Actually, the performance - is a fundamental genre in the global contemporary art processes, it's a powerful communicator of contemporary art technologies. The lack of its comprehension withdraws us from the current contemporary general cultural context. The given Festival will help to overcome the shortcomings of the contemporary art of Ukraine ".
