Firstly in Ukraine Jazz Summer Workshop is launched in Lviv For the first time in Ukraine the Jazz Summer School will be held in our city and young musicians will have an opportunity to adopt experience of jazz-masters from Poland and the USA. From 15 to 18 July Michael Bowie (USA), a prominent contrabassist & a member of the Michel Pettruciani and Michel Camilo bands, Frank Parker, an outstanding Chicago drummer, Janusz Szrom, the Jazz Vocalist of the Year 2010 in Poland and Bogdan Holownia, a prominent Polish pianist and composer will be involved as teachers .
In addition to lectures and master classes, Ukrainian musicians for the first time will be able to freely communicate and to collaborate at jam sessions with world-class musicians. Till that time suchlike workshops were available for Ukrainian musicians only abroad. The School organizers: the JazzClub.Lviv, the Dzyga Art Association , the Cho-Jazz Summer Workshop in Poland , the Culture and Arts Faculty of the Lviv National University named after Ivan Franko. Supported by the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine. Te Jazz Summer School in Lviv is going to be held annually. The trainings will include lectures on the history and theory of jazz, private lessons with teachers and the establishment of bands consisted of students- participants. The School activities will also include concerts and jam sessions involving teachers and participants to be held at the JazzClub.Lviv. The final concert will be conducted on 17 July in the Picasso Lviv Club.
Terms of participation: the School is open for young jazz musicians from all over Ukraine. Tuition fee - 250 UAH.
