Oleh Yas’kiv Cinema Club is reestablished in Lviv

The re-launch of the Oleh Yas’kiv CinemaClub. For decades that project had been operating at the legendary Lyal’ka Club (unfortunately, defunct one). The “restorers” – the Dzyga Art Association and Oleh Yas’kiv, an unchallenged and unfatiguable CC moderator.
| The recrudescent CC is not going to limit its activity only to film screenings. The CC intentions and plans include a re-edification of traditional film festivals, ie., Contemporary Ukrainian Cinema, Cinema-Asia, Contemporary European Cinema, Different Cinema, Masterpieces of Animation, Music Cinema Festival.
The Club also plans to organise and to encourage Lviv citizens engaged in scriptwriting and videography in order to establish Lviv Scriptwriters and Cameramen Workshops.
In the longer run, the aim is to establish a Cinema Centre consisted of a Cinema Club, Debating Club, Scriptwriters Workshop and Cameramen Workshop.
Club Meetings: film-screenings and discussions - on Tuesdays at 6:00 pm.
Meetings with cinematographers - by appointment.

The CinemaClub is a successor of the first Lviv cinema club founded in the independent Ukraine - the second half of 1990's, the time when most picture theatres were closed and the access to high-quality cinematography was limited.
In the course of more than a decade the Cinema Club had managed to become a cultural and to some extent, a spiritual centre for intelligent, educated people, as the Club presented the masterpieces of world cinema, the best achievements of contemporary cinema, animation, ballet.
It was just the CC to be the first to open for the city many cult films and names, Lviv was visited by many renown Ukrainian artists and cultural figures, filmmakers from France, Serbia and Poland.
