For the most part, the twelve day grapefruit diet limits your calorie intake to a very minimal eight hundred calories per day. Can you imagine? When you only consume eight hundred calories, whether you include grapefruit or not, you are bound to lose some weight. However, the twelve day grapefruit diet does have you either eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice with every meal. In addition, it limits the other types of foods you can enjoy. For example, the veggies you must give up on the twelve day grapefruit diet include tomatoes, celery, cabbage, peas, cucumbers, green beans and lettuce. That being said, the twelve day grapefruit diet seems very hard to maintain. Yes, if you only have a few pounds to lose, you might want to try the grapefruit idea, but as far as using it as a regular eating plan, that seems unwise.
